On the morning of June 6, 1944, Allied forces staged a massive assault on German positions on the beaches of Normandy, France, initiating the Western Allied effort to liberate mainland Europe from Nazi Germany.

Many of us have seen the movie, Saving Private Ryan and the harrowing D-Day sequence. To watch men charge the beach, only to be cut down by German bullets, it’s something that will stick with you your entire life.

As the years pass away, many of those who served in the Second World War are no longer around to share their stories. They saved the world from tyranny and laid down their lives for freedom.
