Approximately, 22,000 gun-rights activists rallied peacefully at the Virginia State Capitol today under a heavy police presence. They had protested the plan by the state’s Democratic leadership to pass sweeping gun-control legislation.

The size of the rally and the expected participation of white supremacists and fringe militia groups had raised fears of potential widespread violence. However, the rally concluded without incident around noon, after those in attendance had filled the streets chanting “USA, USA” and waving Patriotic signs.

The protestors were a mixture of Americans from different backgrounds. It didn’t matter if they were White, Black, Asian, Latino, rich or poor. These Patriots came out by the thousands to take a stand against the Virginia government’s plan to limit gun ownership. It also didn’t matter that it was a chilly day. These Patriots wanted to send a message to state legislators, “We will not comply.”

“The government doesn’t run us, we run the government,” Kem Regik, a 20-year-old private security officer from northern Virginia said. He had brought a white flag with a picture of a rifle captioned, “Come and take it.”

Many of the protesters wore camouflage. Some even waved flags with messages of support for President Donald Trump.

President Trump, in turn, tweeted his support for their goal to protect their right to bear arms. “The Democrat Party in the Great Commonwealth of Virginia is working hard to take away your 2nd Amendment rights,” he tweeted. “This is just the beginning. Don’t let it happen, VOTE REPUBLICAN in 2020!

The Virginia State Police, the Virginia Capitol Police, and the Richmond Police had feared a repeat of the violence that erupted in Charlottesville. However, there was little sign of counterprotesters challenging the gun-rights activists.

Pro-Second Amendment advocates also filled the hallways of the lawmakers’ offices. One couple, Jared and Marie March had traveled from Floyd County, which is over three hours west of Richmond, to meet with lawmakers.

“Guns are a way of life where we live,” said Marie March, who was concerned about a proposed red-flag law which she said would allow citizens to be stripped of their guns due to “subjective criteria.” A proposal to establish universal background checks amounted to “more Big Brother,” she said. ”We just feel like we need to push the government back into their rightful spot.”

The rally was organized by the influential grassroots gun-rights group, the Virginia Citizens Defense League. The group holds a yearly rally at the Capitol, which typically a low-key event with a few hundred gun enthusiasts. They listen to speeches from a handful of ambitious Republican lawmakers, but this year, many more attended. Second Amendment groups have identified the state as a rallying point for the fight against what they see as a national erosion of gun rights.

Erich Pratt, the senior vice president of Gun Owners of America was one of the speakers. He said, “We need to throw the bums out. We need to clean house in the next election.”

Virginia Democrats have focused on a proposed assault weapons ban. They are also backing bills that limit handgun purchases to once a month, implementing universal background checks on gun purchases, and allowing localities to ban guns in public buildings, parks, and other areas. They also want a ‘red flag’ bill that would allow authorities to temporarily take guns away from anyone deemed to be dangerous to themselves or others without due process. Anyone would be able to report a gun owner to authorities, and it would take legal action to get your gun back. Basically, you would need to prove your innocence, not them prove your guilt.

Jesse Lambert, a Patriot in attendance was dressed in a mixture of Colonial-era minute-man garb and cargo pants, and he had a Colt rifle strapped across his back. He said that he had traveled from Louisiana to show opposition to the gun control bills. Mr. Lambert said their efforts would unfairly punish law-abiding gun owners, particularly those who own AR-Style rifles. “These are your average common people carrying firearms that are in common use.”

So, while the Democrats and their lapdogs in the leftist media whine that this rally remained free of violence and wasn’t filled with dangerous protestors, the American Patriots in Virginia today sent a LOUD and CLEAR message to those on the radical left… KEEP YOUR HANDS OFF OUR GUNS!

It’s time for those in the Democrat Party to realize they have angered the American Patriots, and now must face the consequences. Instead of going after law-abiding citizens, why not go after the criminals who use guns to commit crimes?

The American Patriots have another message for the Democrats around the country. Prepare for the REDWAVE this November.
