On Saturday, we all sat in awe and filled with pride as our nation returned to space in glory. I remember as a child watching Apollo 11 land on the moon, and then Commander Neil Armstrong as he took his first step on the moon surface. It was a memory I have always held deep in my heart.

The space program once filled us with a sense of pride for our country. Children dreamed of being an astronaut when they grew up and flying off into space. We took the time to stop and watch as our astronauts launched into space. Then we all held our breath as they returned to earth. Over time, we were even able to watch them as they performed their duties while in space. However, something changed, the American people steadily lost interest in the space program.

While trying to ignite excitement for the space program, NASA decided to send a teacher into space. Media attention was higher than usual since it was carrying the first teacher to go into space. Christa McAuliffe was planning to give lessons while in orbit. Millions of children watched on televisions in their classrooms as the flight crew boarded the historic flight.

On Jan. 28, 1986, NASA faced its first shuttle disaster, the loss of the Challenger orbiter and its seven-astronaut crew. Here, Challenger’s last crew – members of the STS-51L mission – stand in the White Room at Pad 39B following the end of a launch dress rehearsal. However, the unthinkable happened. In full view of the television cameras, Challenger broke up 73 seconds after launch.

While many had hoped the Shuttle Program would revive interest in the space program, it’s wasn’t to be. So, as the years passed, funding was cut, and the United States of America went from being a leader in space to being nothing more than a hitchhiker.

Despite this, the dream never completely died. To return to space in a grand manner like years gone past, it would take dreamers and believers. It would take a President who believed in American exceptionalism. It would take a private sector working with that President to return the USA to glory in space.

My fellow Patriots, that is precisely what we all witnessed Saturday, May 30, 2020, at 3:22 PM eastern standard time. We watched as a new age of space travel was born. No more would the USA sit on the sidelines, paying other countries to take our astronauts to space. No, we will be the leader again.

A successful launch!

We’ve come a long way since the early days of space travel. With cutting edge technology, we will have the opportunity to not just go to the moon, but onward to Mars and even farther.

President Trump has an exciting vision for the future of the USA in space. We saw that passion years ago when John F Kennedy promised we would put a man on the moon before the end of the 1960’s decade. While he didn’t live to see his dream fulfilled, on July 20, 1969, the United States of America took a step into greatness.

So, while Domestic Terrorists destroy our cities to hurt President Trump’s reelection this November, we much not allow them to crush our spirits.

We truly are blessed to live in this great nation, and together, we can overcome ANYTHING.
