Opinion of the Writer

There is no doubt that Florida Governor Ron DeSantis cares about Florida residents and school-age children. He works tirelessly to improve the education system for Florida, and it shows in the bills he works to get passed.

Florida rejects 41% of math textbooks aimed at K-5 students: ‘Impermissible’. The textbooks rejected were not aligned with either Florida’s new standards or contained prohibited topics.”

The primary reasons for rejecting textbooks included references to Critical Race Theory (CRT), inclusions of Common Core, and the unsolicited addition of Social Emotional Learning (SEL) in mathematics.”

The DOE also noted that publishers could appeal their rejections.

Gov. DeSantis signs the Parental Rights in Education bill into law. He says parents are being ignored, and he is right. Now, he is doing something about it. He says parents should be involved. The bill he has signed promotes three positive changes for the parents of children in Florida.

Florida has a governor who wants to make positive changes. Recently, he signed a bill into law that bans 15-week abortions in Florida. I applaud the governor for the work he is doing there. However, we need more states to step up and begin making positive changes in their states as well. Imagine what an impact it would make on our country if every state worked on positive changes for their state as Ron DeSantis works for Florida.
