A lot is happening in social media right now that is very important to freedom of speech. We need to keep informed as almost everyone in America uses social media.

President Trump says everyone who used Apple and signed up for Truth Social is now on the site. Enjoy! He also says that Android users are coming soon.

When you go to their website, you first see, “TRUTH Social is America’s “Big Tent” social media platform that encourages an open, free, and honest global conversation without discriminating against political ideology.”

I believe it will survive as a social platform and hopefully compete against Twitter successfully. However, if Elon Musk purchases Twitter outright, many users will remain with Twitter. Therefore, some users will most likely have an account with both social media sites.

The positive outcome of Truth Social is that we will no longer have our voices silenced on social media. Twitter and Facebook need to understand we are their customers and that we can leave. But people aren’t going to leave Facebook entirely because they have become dependent on the social media giant.

There are other platforms similar to Facebook, but they cannot match all that Facebook has to offer and does well.

For example, school clubs use Facebook for meet-ups in groups to share information, while businesses use it for advertising on pages and reaching new prospective customers.

These and other organizations and individuals have become dependent on the social media platform as the go-to place for helpful information.

As a true competitor against Facebook, a social media platform will have to be created by someone famous to draw people from Facebook successfully. And the site has to be as well run as Facebook with all of the positives that Facebook offers.

Until that social platform is created, many users are not leaving Facebook.

We will have to see how the Elon Musk/Twitter situation unfolds. If he does purchase Twitter, he will bring freedom of speech back to Twitter. It will be a huge win for conservatives.

Perhaps, in the future, Elon Musk might consider purchasing Facebook. Now, that would be a huge win for freedom of speech.
