Republican Mayra Flores, a first-time candidate for elected office, won the special election in Texas’ 34th District to complete the term of former Democratic Rep. Filemon Vela, who resigned in March.

Flores was endorsed by Governor Greg Abbott and GOP Conference Chairwoman Elise Stefanick. She is also the wife of a border patrol agent.

In the clip below, the then hopeful candidate spoke to Steve Bannon about the border and its importance to her. She states, “An Attack on our Border Patrol Agents is an Attack on America. I agree.

Flores held 51% of the support while Democratic opponent Dan Sanchez received 43.5.

Flores will run in November’s general election against Democratic Rep. Vicente Gonzalez.

The votes for her were a message to the swamp: We have had enough of Biden’s failures and attempts to change our beloved country.
