Special Agent Khan suffered a fatal heart attack while participating in the agency’s physical fitness test at the United States Military Academy in West Point, New York. He was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
He joined the army after 9/11 and served two tours. Special Agent Khan is survived by his wife.
Conservation Officer Eugene Wynn, Jr.

Conservation Officer Eugene Wynn drowned in a lake after being thrown from a boat at approximately 7:45 pm.
He and a Pine County sheriff’s deputy were responding to a report of a possible body floating in the lake. They had just left the boat launch when they were both thrown out of the boat into frigid waters. Deputies on the shore attempted to reach them in a rowboat but Officer Wynn slipped below the surface and did not come back up. The deputy was rescued and treated at a local hospital.
He is survived by his wife and two children.

Police Officer Kyle Olinger died from complications of a gunshot wound that he sustained on August 13, 2003, while making a traffic stop. He was speaking to one of the occupants when he saw one of the passengers attempting to conceal a handgun underneath the seat. He ordered the man to drop the weapon and a struggle ensued. The man shot Officer Olinger in the neck, injuring his spinal column.
The subject and the three other occupants of the vehicle fled the scene in the car but were all apprehended a short time later. The man who shot him was convicted of attempted murder and subsequently sentenced to a life in prison.
Officer Olinger remained paralyzed below his chest and passed away from complications of his wound. He is survived by his wife and two sons.
Deputy Sheriff Justin Richard DeRosier

Deputy Sheriff Justin DeRosier was shot and killed after responding to a disabled motor home shortly after 10:00 pm. After arriving at the scene, he contacted dispatchers and stated that he was being fired at. Other officers arrived and were able to pull him to safety. He was taken to the local hospital where he died shortly after midnight.
Two suspects were taken into custody near the scene. A third suspect was shot and killed when he was encountered by other officers who were searching for him the following night.
The subject who was killed was the half-brother of the man who murdered Chief of Police Ralph Painter of the Rainier Police Department, Oregon, on January 5th, 2011.
Deputy DeRosier is survived by his wife and 5-month-old daughter.
Sergeant Steven L. Licon

Sergeant Steve Licon was struck and killed by a vehicle while conducting a traffic stop at 4:26 pm. He stopped a vehicle on the right shoulder and was in the process of approaching the driver when a reckless driver drove onto the shoulder at a high rate of speed, striking Sergeant Licon, pinning him and his motorcycle against the stopped car. He was transported to the hospital where he died from his injuries.
He is survived by his wife, daughter, step-daughter, and parents.

Deputy Sheriff Spencer Englett suffered a traumatic medical event while participating in a training exercise at the Basic Police Officer Training Program at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center in Jasper, Georgia.
He collapsed during the exercise and was immediately attended to by training staff and medical personnel. He was transported to the hospital where he died a short time later. He is survived by his wife and sister.

Detective Ben Campbell was struck and killed by a vehicle tire while assisting at the scene of a disable vehicle at 7:30 am. He came across a vehicle that had slid off the interstate due to inclement weather and stopped to provide assistance. As he was standing outside of his vehicle, two wheels of a passing logging truck separated from the vehicle. One of the wheels struck Detective Campbell. He was transported to the hospital where he died from his injuries.
He is survived by his wife and 6-month-old son.
